IU 8 is a proud supporter of the PA Student Invention Convention
Winners of a local invention showcase on December 8 will be sharing their projects in mid February at the state competition.
The Pennsylvania Invention Convention gives students recognition for creating inventions to solve real world problems. All Pennsylvania students (public, charter, & private) in grades k to 12 are invited to enter this competition. It is a K-12 invention education program that builds students’ confidence in problem identification, problem-solving and creativity.
As we approach school year 2022-2023, we are eager to encourage local students to problem solve and create inventions to share. To enhance the student experience, we held a local event on December 8 at Central Cambria in Ebensburg.
Students in IU 8 had a unique opportunity this fall to participate in a day of focus on innovation and entrepreneurialism, which we are called Engage In Innovation.
Students are invited to identify a problem, work towards solving it, and then share their process via a logbook, display board and will present to a team of judges.
Entries can consist of projects being developed for other activities such as Lego League, TSA, Project Lead the Way, or Governor's STEM.
We encourage participants to consider the LAUNCH Framework, and also there is a curriculum available for free through Invention Convention Worldwide, if you want to see a more thorough approach to invention education.
